2008 United Methodist Student Day Offering
Written: 11/11/2008 United Methodist Student Day Offering Nov. 30 The United Methodist Student Day Offering, taken by United Methodist congregations on or near Nov. 30, helps the church to prepare students in uniting their faith with knowledge. Through your offerings, the United Methodist Church’s General Board of Higher Education & Ministry awards scholarships and loans to students attending UM and other accredited colleges and universities.
In addition, a portion of the UM Student Day Offering is returned to our Central Texas Conference for Merit Scholarship Awards to first-year college students. Each spring, the Conference Higher Education Task Force receives applications for the Merit Scholarships and awards those funds returned to the Conference based on eligibility, qualifications and need. Only students from congregations that participate in the offering are eligible. Your church’s participation assures Merit Award eligibility for your students and at the same time helps many promising students with loans and scholarships.
