Local Church Administration

Q: What is the difference between a Charge Conference and a Church Conference?
A:

The Charge Conference has a limited membership. The membership (i.e.: those with voice and vote) of the Charge Conference is the Church Council, the pastor, and the District Superintendent.

The Church Conference has a broader membership. The membership (i.e.: those with voice and vote) of a Church Conference is any member of the congregation in good standing, the pastor, and the District Superintendent.

At both a Charge Conference and a Church Conference, the presiding officer is the District Superintendent, or a Presiding Elder appointed by the District Superintendent.
